Welcome to the Batroun!

list of Batroun's villages.
Batroun is located 54 kms north of Beirut. It is a small Maronite town on the coast.
The town has small fishing ports with a couple of attractive old churches such as St
George Orthodox Church, St Estephan and Saydet el Natour. St George's Orthodox Church was
built in the 18th century and has 21 fine, painted panel and carved wooden doves above the
altar. Across the square is St Estaphan Church which is also known as the fisherman's
church. They are both near the old harbour.
An amazing natural sea wall creating a pool on the landside is the old harbour. It was
reinforced by the phoenicians and the remains of their harbour can still be seen. To the
North-east of the Harbour is the Roman Theatre. It is now in the graden of a private
house.
The Batroun is famous for its freshly made lemonade. There are many juice shops and
cafes that serve this along the main street. Their souks are known for their traditional
Lebanese architecture. They have a fanlight design over each shop.
On the 15th of August, exciting festivals for Saydet el Bahr take place.
