There are many routes to Bcharre from the coast. The drive to Bcharre takes you through some of the most ravishing mountain landscapes in Lebanon. Along the way you see some of the most spectacular views of peaks and gorges as well as olive groves, vineyards, valleys and mountain peaks that rise higher and higher.

Bcharre is the main town in the Kadisha valley. It has three main churches which were built and rebuilt by the leading families of the town. The largest is the Saba Church. It is built like a small cathedral on the edge of the gorge.

Bcharre has undergone three name changes. In Phoenician times it was called 'Beit Chari', 'Buissera' during the Crusades and now Bcharre.
