Youssef Bey Karam - The Lebanese National Hero.

Youssef Boutros Karam was born in Ehden in 1823. His father was the Sheikh Boutros Karam while his mother was Mariam, the daughter of Antonios Abi Khatar. He grew up in Ehden most of his life. He studied languages (French, Italian, Syriac and Arabic) and read (Religion, Literature, Science and History).

In 1846, the rule was passed down to him as his father died.
